Geocache Description:

I grew up in this neighbourhood.
As a kid, the Woodlands children's assylum used to be just where the apartments are located.
My parents would always tell my brother and I to not go into those grounds because they would think that my brother and I belonged there.
My mother used to work at the nearby nursing home, so I would often walk over to visit her.
As a kid, my friends and I would go sledding down the little hill here at cache location, it felt bigger when I was a kid, as well there used to be a little baseball field and changeroom, but they've all been torn down.

But this field, my friends and I would also play here all the time, and I would walk our dog Pinky, as well as letting her off leash.
While she was off leash running around she'd find a spot and just roll and roll and roll. She'd get up, sniff around a bit and roll and roll and roll again.
There's a willow tree here at cache site (cache is not at the tree) I'd go under the branches of the leaves and see these grave stones under the tree, and just thought they were part of the nearby nursing home, except the dates were from a very long time ago. I was a young kid, maybe like 7 or 8 years old, so I didn't think too much of it.

Now for the spooky part of the story.
Going back to what I said before about my parents telling my brother and I to not go into the Woodlands grounds, well one day we did.
While exploring the grounds, my brother and I came across a wooden shed, like a garden shed. The door was locked with a padlock.
Being 8 and 6 years old, and already being bad by not listening to our parents and coming to Woodlands, we (probably me) decided to keep being bad, and so we broke open the padlock on the shed.
We opened the door and looked inside. What we saw mostly confused us.
(Again, for a third time, I'm only 8 years old, or younger. My brother maybe 5 or 6)
Inside the shed were a bunch of gravestones. Not the ornate ones that stand up, but the headtones that just lay flat.
There were piles of them, just stacks of them. We didn't understand what we were looking at or why they were there, so we just left them and kept exploring the grounds.

Sometime later, I'm walking Pinky again.
As we're walking, I see a dead mouse/rat along the sidewalk. Pinky walks up to it and starts sniffing it.
Suddenly she starts to roll and roll and roll ontop of the dead thing.
I think to myself, "Huh, she only rolls like that in the field by the nursing home. Hmm... those gravestones in the shed looked like the ones that are under that willow tree. Dead mouse.... rolling, gravestones.... OMG. I'VE BEEN PLAYING IN AN ABANDONED CEMETERY!"

Flashforward a good 20 years later when they're tearing down Woodlands to build the new apartments here, a worker is reported to have found dozens of grave stones tossed into the bushes near and in Glennbrook ravine. (I swear my brother and I left those stones alone)
Those stones on display here at the site are the ones my brother and I found in the shed all those years ago. No, I'm not the construction worker.

For more information about this site, the walking path has many little signs telling the story of this site and the graves here
