É um eucalipto muito alto e reza a lenda que foi plantado por uma linda morena por quem o dono da quinta, o Cônsul Henry Veitch, se apaixonou e casou em segredo.
Diz-se que no momento da plantação da árvore, o cônsul, perdeu-se de amores pela jovem, facto que não passou despercebido a uma perspicaz velhinha que assistia à cena, que disse em voz alta: “se a árvore crescer, como o que hoje aqui nasceu, não terá igual!”
