Geocache Description:

This corral, called Sherwin Corral after James Sherwin, who operated the "High Road" in the late 1800's from Bishop to Mammoth Mining District (now called Old Mammoth) through this area, has been here for a very long time. In fact, the trail that continues from this corral is called the "Wagon Wheel Trail" because the wagons left deep ruts in the rock. I thought it needed a barn for the stock. Of course, nowadays, many barns are turned into art galleries.

This corral has been here so long, it has its own Bureau of Land Management (BLM) cadastral benchmark. Cadastral benchmarks are used to designate ownership and subsequent taxation. This benchmark is important to opening the cache. You will need the year the benchmark was placed in order to open the cache. Use the benchmark waypoint to find the marker.

There is a small lock on the cache to keep it secure from muggles and animals. Use the last three numbers of the date on the benchmark to open the lock.

In addition to the log, there is a drawing journal. Please feel free to draw a picture to share with the caching community. Perhaps draw a picture of something you saw today.  Or write a poem. Please leave the little journal and drawing materials behind for the next finder. Leaving art behind is not required to get credit for finding the cache.

The cache is large enough for small toys, trinkets, and trackables.

Congratulations to highsierra3d for the FTF. Thanks for the favorite point.
