This cache has been published as part of the national Village Hall Week 2024.
West Hallam is really fortunate in having three community buildings which can be used by various groups; as well as the large Community Centre on Station Road and the old Village Hall in the centre of the village, we also have the smaller Powtrell Pavilion (and if that’s not enough you can also hire the hall at the Methodist Church.)
The Powtrell Pavilion’s main use is as changing rooms, etc., for the Beech Lane football field. However, there is also a large room that can be used for meetings, parties, exercise activities, etc., along with kitchen facilities, which is ideal for smaller gatherings. Even the Parish Council meet here.
There is a small car park next to the pavilion (access from Pavilion Court), and there are no parking restrictions – parking will be a problem if there is football going on when you visit.
The cache is not at the published coordinates, but you will need to go there first. At the rear of the pavilion there is a large shipping container which is used for storage by the football team. There are lots of numbers on the door of the container:
