Geocache Description:

1924

This is the first in a series of caches that entail the history of Colstrip.  Each one will be accessable from one of the many walking trails around Colstrip.

Colstrip has an approximate population of 2,100 residents, and was established by the Northern Pacific Railway in 1924 as a company town to provide coal for their steam locomotives. Colstrip is the largest city in Rosebud County with 25.2% and was encorporated as a city in 1998.  The City's primary industries are coal mining at the Westmoreland Coal Mine located West of Colstrip and the Colstrip Steam Electric Station which is the largest power plant west of the Mississippi.  These two industries are the lifeblood of Colstrip and provide reliable power through clean Coal technology.

I'm not sure how difficult or easy this cach will be yet, so I will update the difficulty as time goes on.

Some guildlines and things to think about when looking for this cache:

- Watch our for mugglers.  This is along a very busy walking path, so try to be discreet when re-hiding the cach.  Thanks!

- This cache is accessable from the walking path side of the fence.  Please do not park along the highway for obvious safety reasons.

- There is plenty of off street parking at the Rosebud Foods grocery store or near the Fort Union Inn across from the Town Pump.

- Permission to place this cache was obtained from Colstrip Parks and Recreation Distric.

Good luck and Happy Caching!
