Edward Nigma is the genius-level Super Villain, Riddler, who caused all sorts of havoc for Batman and Robin. From the time he was in grade school he was facinated with solving puzzles. He eventually dropped out of school and turned to a life of crime. At this point, he changed his name to E. Nigma, or enigma, and found that half the fun of being a criminal was trying to outsmart the police by leaving them clues and riddles to enhance the, "thrill of the chase."
He treated crime as performance art, and Batman soon became a more worthy adversary. During the thrilling game of cat and mouse, he staged elaborate puzzles and death traps for Batman and Robin over the years.
