The Lake Casitas Recreation Area charges a $10.00 day-use fee. The good news is that more than a dozen geocaches are within the area. The Shoreline Trail is a two-mile-long and relatively flat trail. Most of the year, you can park at the trailhead. However, there is a nesting pair of Bald Eagles near the trailhead, and during nesting season, February - late June, vehicles are not allowed. This adds one or two miles to the round-trip hike.
This ammo can is hidden a little ways up a game trail that leads to a small oak tree. The cache is a short way up and about ten feet to the right of the game trail. It is a gray plastic ammo can at the base of a tall bush and covered with dead material. It will not be easy to spot, so follow the directions.
