Monski: Time to archive this one, can't wait to see all the orchids come up and maybe even spy some nesting birds in the new hedge.

8th March - Mustering Mowed Meadow

CITO 2024, Season 1
Attend a CITO from Friday 1st March through to Friday 31st May 2024 to get an official CITO Souvenir

Parking: There is some on street parking on Laxton Road (or in many of the other side streets nearby).

Where:  We will meet on Laxton Road near the footpath sign that leads down to Green Lane for 0930 (see trail ahead waypoint) or find us in the reserve (published coords).

What: Join us as we rake cut bramble from the grassland to prevent it choking the pyramidal orchids. We cut and collect grass from the area in late summer to manage the meadows. The bramble is prolific so this second cut and rake will increase light to the orchids allowing them to flourish.

How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance and tools if necessary, however, if you have your own rake and gloves please do bring them along.

Green Lane can get quite wet after sustained rain, so if there has been raining in the lead up to this event then wellies are recommended.

Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.

Please make sure you bring along your own refreshments as it can be thirsty work!
