Vi trovate davanti a un misterioso pezzo di storia del paese. Questi cancelli neri conducono all’ex villa Prever, ora villa Tosco, che con un po’ di fortuna dovreste riuscire a vedere tra gli alberi.
Questa villa dall’immenso parco si trova al centro di coazze e divide viale Italia da via Matteotti ( sulla quale vi trovate ora). La villa è sempre stata di grande importanza da quando fu costruita e ora è possibile visitarla solo qualche volta all’anno, spesso in occasione del festival di Pirandello ( che si tiene tra Giugno e Luglio, per informazioni rivolgersi all’ufficio turistico di Coazze o informarsi sull’associazione Le vie del tempo.)
La villa risale a centinaia di anni fa, infatti già nei primi del 1800 era residenza del Cavalier Prever, benefattore e anche sindaco di Coazze che riceveva i cittadini all’interno delle stesse mura della villa e che fece costruire anche l’asilo ancora in uso oggi. Il Cavalier Prever era un uomo molto generoso e amato, ma non da tutti. Infatti la Coazze “bene” dei tempi, le associazioni e confraternite , erano gelose del suo successo e riuscirono a non farlo rieleggere in quanto sindaco.
La storia di villa Prever non finisce qui. Con la sua posizione strategica in centro paese, la villa divenne durante gli anni della seconda guerra mondiale la sede del comando tedesco. I tedesci sorteggiarono decine di ostaggi, che furono tenuti in cattività e uccisi quando l’esercito aveva delle perdite in seguito alle lotte con i partigiani. Le operazioni di rastrellamento della zona durarono più del previsto e gli ostaggi iniziarono a soffrire di ogni sorta di male. L’allora parroco Don Accastello andò a protestare a villa Prever dove fu ricevuto dall’ufficiale tedesco nel salone della villa. La dicussione tra i due divenne accesa e al parroco fu puntata addosso una pistola e gli venne intimato di andarsene. Il parroco non obbedì e l’ufficiale sparò un colpo di avvertimento che mancò il prete, ma lasciò testimonianza di questo scontro sul davanzale di marmo del caminetto, dove è ancora visibile il segno del proiettile.

You are standing in front of a mysterious piece of the town's history. These black gates lead to the former Prever villa, now known as Villa Tosco, which with a bit of luck you should be able to see through the trees. This villa with its immense park is located in the center of Coazze and divides Viale Italia from Via Matteotti (on which you find yourself now). The villa has always been of great importance since it was built, and now it is possible to visit it only a few times a year, often on the occasion of the Pirandello festival (which takes place between June and July, for information contact the Coazze tourist office or inquire about the association "Le vie del tempo").
The villa dates back hundreds of years, in fact, already in the early 1800s it was the residence of Cavalier Prever, a benefactor and also mayor of Coazze who received citizens within the same walls of the villa and who also had the kindergarten built, still in use today. Cavalier Prever was a very generous and beloved man, but not by all. In fact, the "well-to-do" of Coazze at the time, the associations and brotherhoods, were jealous of his success and managed to prevent him from being re-elected as mayor.
The history of Villa Prever does not end here. With its strategic position in the town center, the villa became during the years of the Second World War the headquarters of the German command. The Germans drew lots of dozens of hostages, who were held captive and killed when the army suffered losses following the fights with the partisans. The area sweep operations lasted longer than expected, and the hostages began to suffer from all sorts of ailments. The then parish priest, Don Accastello, went to protest at Villa Prever where he was received by the German officer in the villa's hall. The discussion between the two became heated, and the priest was pointed a gun at and ordered to leave. The priest did not obey, and the officer fired a warning shot that missed the priest but left a mark on the marble windowsill of the fireplace, where the bullet hole is still visible. Le curé de l'époque, Don Accastello, est allé protester à la Villa Prever où il a été reçu par l'officier allemand dans le hall de la villa.
