Total Solar Eclipse at the beach
Where: Shades Beach Park - Harborcreek, PA
When: Monday, April 8
Event Time: 12:30 PM - 4 PM
Come join the Erie Area Geocachers as we experience one of the most incredible natural events of your lifetime! Erie, PA is in the path of totality for the Total Solar Eclipse of 2024! For nearly four minutes, the afternoon sky will go dark as the moon passes between the sun and the Earth. Erie is the only major city in Pennsylvania in the path of totality.
Partial phase start: 13:59
Totality Start: 15:16
Totality Ends: 15:20
This is a "rain or shine" (no snow!!) event! We will have a table and some chairs (maybe a picnic table also, if we get lucky) Bring a chair if you can. We will be serving Sun Chips and Moon Pies. I'll have some water and Capri Sun, too. Feel free to bring anything you'd like to eat or drink. It's important to wear ISO-certified eclipse glasses as you safely view the eclipse. You can get them at several locations in Erie County leading up to the Eclipse. (More information will be posted in an announcement later.) We will have a few extra pair of glasses available!
Important::: Expect lots of traffic and allow extra time to get wherever you are going all day today, especially if the weather is nice. Restrooms at the park will now be open, but there will be several Port-a-johns also!
