Geocache Description:

Ice cream's history dates back to ancient civilizations, with Persians and Chinese creating early versions using snow, fruit, and sweeteners. By the 18th century, it had become a delicacy in Europe and the American colonies. During this time, caramel, known for its rich flavor, was already a popular confection. It's likely that inventive confectioners began swirling caramel into ice cream, leading to the emergence of caramel swirl ice cream. Throughout the 20th century, as commercial ice cream production expanded, caramel swirl became a staple flavor, enjoyed worldwide. Today, it remains a classic dessert, reflecting the creativity and global exchange of culinary traditions over centuries.
