The Little Spinster
The Little Spinster’ is an independent feature film produced in Canberra, written and directed by Will Scott. It follows the story of Lauren Wainwright, a young woman who must choose between marrying into wealth or pursuing a relationship with the woman she has fallen in love with. The film takes place in early 20th Century small-town Australia; and the ACT (and Michelago) provided a variety of ideal shooting locations. Over 50 people from Canberra and the surrounding areas contributed to the making of the film – whether as cast, crew, or both! ‘The Little Spinster’ premiered at a local cinema in Canberra on January 13th, 2024.
This geocache series is a tour of 12 film locations for 'The Little Spinster' around the ACT and Michelago.
Cooleman Ridge / Call of the Peacock
So many scenes were shot at Cooleman Ridge that it took two days of filming. It serves as the quiet, secluded place where Lauren and Crystal can discuss their deepest fears and feelings. It is the director Will Scott’s favourite location from the film (and possibly favourite location in the ACT).
When asked “Have you faced any difficulties today?”, sound operator Adrian Mago replied “Yeah, a tired right arm.”

This Cache
GZ is located along the path up to the filming locations on Cooleman Ridge. The cache is a 200mL Sistema container with a few swaps. It's a simple hide but please be stealthy around passing muggles. Good luck!
