Roundabouts are increasingly more common around the United States, and there are now nearly 300 roundabouts in use in North Carolina. Several are in small towns and cities and circumnavigate county courthouses as does the roundabout in Carthage.
To commemorate Pi Day, 2024, I offer this puzzle.
The diameter of the Carthage roundabout is approximately 250 feet.
Let X equal the circumference of the roundabout rounded to the nearest foot.
Let Y equal the area of an imaginary square inscribed in the roundabout rounded to the nearest square foot.
The coordinates of the cache are N35 20.ABC W79 25.0DE.
To find ABC, add 44 to X.
To find DE, subtract 31226 from Y.
Bring your own pencil. While you are here, check out the Adventure Lab: The Murals of Carthage. Happy hunting!
Congrats to Wuffpack on FTF.
