PARK AT THE POSTED COORDINATES
The Shroom Hunt series will acquaint you with some of the most common mushrooms found in northern Minnesota. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to ID this mushroom to genus using the photos and text provided.
In many cases you might find the actual mushrooms along this trail. If you happen to find morels, please PM me.

One of the most prized mushrooms worldwide, this mushroom has pores rather than gills. Common names include Porcini, Ceps, or the King. It is a mycorrhizal mushroom, meaning that it attaches its mycelial network ("roots") to the roots of trees. This helps the tree get moisture and nutrients, and in turn the tree sends down sugars in fall, when the fruiting bodies are produced.
