Geocache Description:

The church in Elsfield is dedicated to St Thomas of Canterbury – Thomas Beckett.

This is a Resurrected cache in the Church Micro series; it replaces the traditional cache which was located near the church. This replacement has the same Church Micro number but is a new cache of a new type and has a new GC number. The previous incarnation can be found here: https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC7YPVH_church-micro-12160-elsfield

The chancel and nave of this grade 2 listed church date from the latter part of the twelfth century. There was also a north aisle that may also have dated from this period, but which was later demolished. In about 1273, the church was remodelled and rededicated to St Thomas of Canterbury. In 1849 the church was heavily restored in an Early English style.
In 2002, the west end was cleared of pews to create space for the Village Room, which is separated from the nave by an especially designed folding oak and glass screen.

Out of consideration for local residents please don't attempt this cache when it is dark.

Finding The Cache

The posted coordinates should take you to a bench to the left of the church entrance. The dates Hugh was vicar will give you ABCD-EFGH.

N51 (C-A) (G) . (A+E) (C) (D-E)

W001 (E) (D-G) . (F) (C-A) (G-E)

Checksum: All the digits add up to 55.

The cache contains an ink pad and my first attempt at making a letterbox stamp. Please make sure these stay in the container, they are not swaps. There are some pre-stamped cards - feel free to take one if you'd prefer not to contend with the ink pad etc.

The container is quite a snug fit in its hiding place, please make sure it is well tucked in and replaced out of sight. Thanks!
