At the Shimura Promenade along the coastline of Cape Gyodosaki, you can observe deep-sea strata from 40 to 35 million years ago up close. The sight of striped strata spreading out all around you is breathtaking. Of particular note is the ripple mark that can be seen at the very end of the promenade. The ripple pattern created by the flow of water on the deep sea floor is worth seeing.
行当岬の海外沿いに整備された新村（しむら）遊歩道では、約４０００万〜３５００万年前の深海の地層を間近で観察することができます。あたり一面、シマシマ模様の地層が広がる光景は圧巻。中でも注目は、遊歩道の一番奥で見ることができる、リップルマーク。深海底で水の流れが作り上げたさざ波模様は一見の価値あり。
