Geocache Description:

Ahoy, mateys! Ya've heard it all before a thousand times, ain't ye? X marks the spot, they say! What's that? Yer tired of that ol' "trope". YARRR! I don't recall askin', ye scurvy dog. This 'ere's another search for a pirate's treasure. And yes, X MARKS THE SPOT.

This here adventure be in the form of a Lett'rbox. Of course, I be preferin' a TREASURE box, but I'll take what I's can get. An' with a crew like you 'elpin' me, I'm sure to get me hands on it. So, set sail!

Arr, but wait. Before we even hoist the sails, we must be sure we be properly prepared! This be no ordinary pirate's treasure, after all. Yer shovels and pails be useless here, as this box not be in the ground. In fact, it not even be ON the ground. This box be located UP ABOVE the ground. The legends say ye be needin' a long, hooked tool at least 18 metres long! Abandon all hope, ye who embark on this journey without a proper tool!

(we can lend you a TOTT if needed and if we're home, contact GB or bobthegoalie)

Now then, let us begin. To start off, use your sextant (or as some blokes may call it, a "GPS") to navigate to the coordinates posted on this 'ere page. Once there, ye be needin' to find the ancient writing. The legend describes this writing in great detail, so it should not be hard t'find. Here be what the legend describes...

This puzzle will use five signs. These five signs you need are all located in the same vicinity...

The "Coquitlam Parks" sign that describes the park's various amenities, henceforth known as "CPS"

The parking regulation sign located directly above CPS which has words written on it, henceforth known as "PRS"

The sign detailing the rules and laws regarding trash (or "refuse"), henceforth known as "TRS"

The sign detailing the rules and laws regarding burning things, henceforth known as "BRS"

The street adoption sign with the name of the person(s) who have adopted this street, henceforth known as "SAS"

Pay close attention to the ancient writing, as we be needin' to decipher clues using the words and symbols written here. This be a very, very important part of all this. Gettin' the wrong clues may lead ye astray. I will again provide the legend here, as written on the ancient scrolls. It be usin' some strange language, but the instructions be clear...

A. CPS-Number of marijuana leaves
B. SAS-Number of letters in both names
C. TRS-Last digit in the bylaw year (The value after the comma)
D. CPS-First digit in the larger of the two bylaw numbers
E. BRS-Number of black words
F. PRS-Number of black words
G. SAS-Number of sides in the black shape on the sign above
H. BRS-Number of red lines
I. TRS-Number of letters in the longest word
J. PRS-Number of singular letters (not part of a word)
K. TRS-Number of zeroes in the maximum fine value
L. CPS-Last digit in the smaller of the two bylaw numbers
M. CPS-Number of wheels
N. SAS-Number of A's written in white

Checksums... A to E = 30, F to J = 21, K to N = 19

Travel to N49 AB.CDE W122 FG.HIJ, where you will find what essentially amounts to a pull-out parking space along the dirt road.

Then, travel to the southwest for KL metres. At this point, there will be a forest on your right (west). Turn and enter this forest.

The treasure can be found only a few steps away from where "X" marks the spot. "X" is found MN metres away from the road.

There ye have it. With all of this information, we should be able to find the treasure hidden somewhere off the beaten path, somewhere our boats cannot take us, somewhere a true pirate only dreams of. Er, somethin' like that. Either way, as the legend says, "X" marks the spot! Thankfully, the legend's instructions be clear enough that we should still be able to find th' treasure even if the "X" be missin'. Good luck to us all!

Oh, one final thing. The legends say that there be a cursed item hidden within this box, by the name of "Ye ancient STAMP". The curse is harmless, unless the item be taken away from the box. So even after we find the treasure, Ye ancient STAMP must remain INSIDE the box lest we all be cursed. Ye be warned!!
