Geocache Description:

After you rested at the nearby campground, it's time to go for a hike to the Murbaat cave ("מורבעאת", also called "Muraba", "Murabaat", or "Merubaat"). The cave is named for its distinctive rectangular entrance (see photo). Reaching it required a moderately steap hike down the wadi cliff, so make sure to bring appropriate shoes and lots of water.

The cave has been inhabited one and off over the past 6000 years. Most notably during the Bar Kokhba revolt against the Romans (132 - 136 CE). It was redicovered in the 1950's by local beduins, and is being explored by archeologists till today.

The cache is hidden roughly midway along the trail to the Merubaat cave. Look out for the natural bridge not far from GZ (shown in the background image).

Notes:

* If you want to explore the cave, make sure to bring a flashlight. But remember that it's an active archeological site, so it's strictly illegal to dig or take any artifacts from this place without a permit.

* Note that there is no celular signal here. So make sure to save all the necessary cache information for offline retreival.

* In you want to learn more, you can find information (in Hebrew) about the cave here, and about the hike here and here.
