This is a cache located on a monument relating to the French painter Toulouse-Lautrec.  Research states that whilst on a cycling holiday in 1892, he married a barmaid in a short ceremony in Gretna Green.Â
It is understood that this sculpture was made by a local blacksmith and erected by the locals from Moffat and Beattock around February 1992 for a large group of cyclists that set off to cycle to Toulouse in aid of good causes. Â At the time, the A74M was not yet completed and the sculpture marks the starting point on the old A74.
