Geocache Description:

This is a cache located on a monument relating to the French painter Toulouse-Lautrec.  Research states that whilst on a cycling holiday in 1892, he married a barmaid in a short ceremony in Gretna Green.

It is understood that this sculpture was made by a local blacksmith and erected by the locals from Moffat and Beattock around February 1992 for a large group of cyclists that set off to cycle to Toulouse in aid of good causes.  At the time, the A74M was not yet completed and the sculpture marks the starting point on the old A74.
