Geocache Description:

These toilets are located on Magnet St by the Otago Yacht Club. A car park is available on the waterfront to the east of the club and a new parking area has been developed on the other side of Magnet Street to this parking lot.

Until about 3 years ago there use to be a toilet sign on a post by the bike track that runs alongside Magnet St until someone decided to pull it out of the ground and left it lying there, concrete block at one end of the post and the toilet sign at the other. For some reason, unknown to me it was never reinstated. At least the toilets were not closed.

The coordinates will bring you to a simple green wooden door in a concrete block wall. This unisex toilet door was repainted earlier this year and the faded signage upgraded to a bright new sign. Walking from the car park to here you would have passed the gents's toilets and wheelchair accesible women's toilet. The women's toilets are behind a keypad lock. There's no phone number provided here to get the code for access so your stuffed if you need this unit.

At the unisex toilet you will notice that the door has the old fashion round brass door knob that you turn to open. Immediately inside to the left is the light switch but generally you do not need to activate it as the light is normally. On the left hand side wall is the white cermanic toilet bowl with the typical white plastic seat, sans lid. On the wall behind and above is the white plastic cistern with a stainless flush button on the front, near the top. Higher up is the window which is partially covered over. Behind the bowl is the toilet brush and holder. The brush is attached to the wall by a chain. it makes you wonder," who would take a used toilet brush?"

From the seated position, to your left is the toilet paper roll holder that holds two large rolls of toilet paper. In the far left corner is the stainless steel hand basin. A simple press of the button on the tap will activate the water flow. A liquid soap dispenser is above the hand basin on the left hand wall. No hand drying facitities are available.

The internal walls are all concrete block, painted an off white colour. No sign of any mirror or coat hooks. The floor is speckled lino.

Open hour are not posted but on one winter morning a group of us met in the carpark for car pooling and the toilet was locked. On many other occasions at 9am we have found them unlocked when visiting aroun 9am. The contacator was probably running late on that occasion as they were unlocked when we returned later that morning. We have always found the unisex toilet to be clean and non odorous.

Just be aware that access to the cache may be slippery and a bit wet at times.
