Schoemansdrift Bridge is a single-lane bridge over the Vaal River between the North West Province and the Free State in the Vredefort area. The bridge spills over from time to time and is a popular tourist attraction.

Orange Free State

The Orange Free State was a Boer state in Southern Africa that existed from 1854 to 1902. It was an independent republic under British suzerainty, meaning it had some autonomy but recognized British authority. It was defeated and surrendered to the British Empire at the end of the Second Boer War. It became a province of the Union of South Africa in 1910, and later a part of the Republic of South Africa

The Vaal River is the largest branch river of the Orange River in South Africa. The Vaal River gets its name from the grey colour of its water, especially in the flood season when a lot of silt and sediment are discharged.

The Vredefort Dome is the largest impact crater on Earth. It is located in the Free State, South Africa, with the town of Vredefort lying in the crater. In 2005, the Vredefort Dome was added to Unesco's list of World Heritage Sites for aesthetic and scientific value of the area.
