Geocache Description:

Related webside.
To wander around the castle, they usually ask for an entrance ticket, which must be arranged at the first boutique. The castle offers a majestic view from a distance. And in the castle courtyard, we can find many works of sculptors from the area. You can walk on the walls, bastions, and of course also in the former residential area. Unfortunately, only ruins are hidden behind the facade, but the discovery can certainly provide an interesting experience. You can walk along the castle wall, discover bastions, rooms and terraces among the ruined walls. The essential development of its history is actually the same as most of the castles in Central Europe. It is mentioned for the first time after the 13th century - presumably it was built as a result of the Tatar invasion. After a few changes of ownership, it came into Turkish hands in the second half of the 16th century, then it was recaptured at the beginning of the 19th century, but in the II. also plays an important role in World War II. During the South Slavic War that broke out at the end of the millennium, it again became a military base and target. We can still see traces of them today. In 2013, the castle was inaugurated as a National Monument, and many works from Bihác were exhibited in its area. Even today, ~150 stone carvings can be seen in the castle park.
