Historik
Stiftsgården vid Marielund ägs och förvaltas av Stockholms katolska stift. Den är en gåva från Marie Klinckowström, född de Labensky. Hon var född i Paris, och gifte sig med den svenske militären, diplomaten och politikern Rudolf Klinckowström. Paret bodde på godset Stavsund i Ekerö, som hennes föräldrar köpte till dem som bröllopsgåva. Marie hade svårt att finna sig tillrätta på landet i ett för henne nytt och främmande land, och hon var ofta sjuk. Men ett möte med den katolske prästen Carlo Moro fick henne bättre till mods. Han bad henne att inte bekymra sig utan i stället lita på Guds försyn. Hon lät sig upptas i katolska kyrkan, kanske inte helt utan konflikt med maken.
När Marie Klinckowström blivit änka lät hon uppföra Marielund som sitt änkesäte, som hon lät testamentera till den katolska kyrkan i Sverige. Vid tiden för Maries död 1907 var inte katolska kyrkan stor, men man fick med Marielund en resurs som man allt sedan dess har förvaltat väl. Man har bland annat genom åren anordnat barn- och ungdomsverksamhet. Gården har också varit en tillflyktsort för familjer på flykt eller på annat sätt beroende av bostad. Den österrikiska familjen von Trapp, vars liv skildrats i musikalen Sound of Music, lär under en tid ha vistats vid Marielund.

Background
The retreat centre at Marielund is owned and managed by the Catholic Diocese of Stockholm. It was a donation from Marie Klinckowström, born de Labensky. She was born in Paris, and married the Swedish officer, diplomat and politician Rudolf Klinckowström. The couple lived at the manor Stavsund in Ekerö, which was a wedding gift from her parents. Marie did not feel at home at the countryside in a new and foreign country, and she was often sick. However, a meeting with the catholic priest Carlo Moro made her feel better. He asked her not to worry, but to trust in God. She was received into the catholic congregation, probably against her husband's wishes.
As a widow, Marie Klinckowström had Marielund built for her to live in, and bequeathed it to the Swedish Catholic congregation. At the time of her death in 1907, the congregation was small, but Marielund became a resource which since then has been well managed. Through the years it has been used e.g. for activities for children and youth. The centre has also been a refuge for displaced families or persons otherwise dependent on housing. The Austrian von Trapp family, whose life was depicted in the musical The Sound of Music, is said to have spent some time at Marielund.
The church at Marielund was inaugurated in 1965.
