This cache is the second of a series of caches exploring the little tucked away parks of beautiful Lansdowne PA! While Sycamore park itself may be on the smaller side, its namesake is anything but small! This particular tree is older than the country, estimated to have germinated in the 17th century. The community took notice: the Sycamore is the official symbol of Lansdowne. Good news for the township - American Sycamores can live as long as 500-600 years, which puts our particular tree in upper middle age where it likely watches golf and asks its kids when its going to have grandchildren. As you can tell, Sycamore can grow to massive proportions, and can reach 13 feet in diameter.
As you marvel at the tree and all its aged beauty, ponder other old things. As you sit on the rock wall, think that each stone of that wall is hundreds of years, if not thousands of years older. Well most of the rocks there are old, one might be a bit younger. There's something about holding the object of your contemplation that makes all the difference in these meditative moments.
