The 43rd in the Rest 'n Peace - Centre County series takes you to one of the smaller and older, yet still very active cemeteries in the county. The first known burial was in 1908 and the most recent in 2022 spanning 115 years, but with just 18 internments this now churchless location averages more than six years between burials, The original church was completed in the first quarter of the century, with worship taking place at home or in the open air prior to that, but burned sometime prior to 1940 and was rebuilt along Sinking Creek. This burial location was then mostly abandoned, but not entirely.
The cemetery, having no extant church or attending congregation, has been known as the Evangelical United Brethren Cemetery, Colyer Cemetery, and/or the Evangelical Christian Cemetery over the years. Today it is Fruittown, and although there is no signage (other than a tree-nooked angel), it is decently maintained and is a very quaint place to visit.
As with any cemetery cache, please be respectful of those interred here. Parking can be found right off the road across a large pipe. If you wish to search this location for any particular individual, please follow THIS LINK.
