Geocache Description:

One of my most favorite places to walk the dogs, broh. In the spring evenings, When the ditches are full and prior to the bugs coming alive for the summer, this portal can open magic. Miles of trails, sunshine and nature.

And now...... a bit of HISTORY.

Efforts for the preservation of open space lands began in the 1960s with a few visionary individuals. These early efforts resulted in the acquisition of over 8,500 acres of land by 1968.

Rex Funk, for many years was the chairman and moving spirit of the Open Space Task Force. He had played a major role in the acquisition of the Elena Gallegos area and the creation of the Rio Grande Valley State Park. Mr. Funk became the first superintendent of the Open Space Division which was created in 1984.

In 1997, Citizens approved a 1/4 cent tax increase that was in effect from 1998-2000. The tax raised approximately $36 million dollars to purchase over 2,000 acres of land proposed as Major Public Open Space. Two properties that were acquired in 1998 include Los Poblanos Fields (formerly know as Anderson Fields), and Tres Pistolas. Other acquisitions included the Atrisco Terrace, Hubbell Oxbow, Manzano/Four Hills and Alamo Farms properties.

AS far as #420 goes....

Popular lore ties the birth of "4/20" to a group of high schoolers attending Northern California's San Rafael High School in the early 1970s. The five teens – Steve Capper, Dave Reddix, Jeffrey Noel, Larry Schwartz and Mark Gravich – became known as the “Waldos” because they met by a wall.

Reddix would later work with Phil Lesh, the bass guitarist for the rock band "The Grateful Dead." According to TIME Magazine, the band popularized the term. On Dec. 28, 1990, a group of the band's fans, known as "Deadheads," passed out flyers in north California encouraging people to smoke on April 20 at 4:20 p.m. One of the flyers was published in cannabis-culture magazine High Times.

Pretty Sure this is the last portal, broh. While the name might suggest there are 419 other portals, there is only three. Happy Caching!

I lied.
