Drive on thru
This cache is in a Right-Of-Way access along the east side of a car park. You are looking for a bison hidden in a small (just) sized container that has been camouflaged. The cache is located such that it is accessible to everyone and everything but be mindful this is a working carpark and you are near traffic and metres from a coffee shop with attendant loiterers and passers-by.
You are here to give a nod to another iconic Australian invention. The old Drive Through bottle shop (Drive-thru) is out the back of the pub in the south side of the car park and still stands. Whilst this one has been closed for many years the building with original signage is still holding up until inevitable redevelopment one day.
Background - The classic ‘drive-thru’ can be found almost anywhere in Oz and is an institution, giving you the ability to buy alcohol from the comfort of your car. Whilst we follow the lead of the car-centric USA in designing many of our automobile/town planning interactions, it was actually a pub in South Australia that first offered the drive-thru service back in 1953. So when someone lists the Hills Hoist, Stump-jump-plough etc and other Australian inventions, spare a thought for the Drive-thru.
