Picnic table under the redwoods about one mile walk from (free) parking at the Sprig Lake entrance, Mt Madonna County Park. Steady elevation gain of 100 meters along the way.
Am I happy with achieving a Nifty Ninety peak by starting at the closest parking lot and walking a few city blocks with a 20ft elevation gain? Nuh-uh.
Maybe I'm an idiot, but I wanna feel like I've earned the peak.
From Trailhead (Merry-go-Round trail at Sprig Lake) for this event, the Mt Madonna Nifty Ninety can be reached on a lovely 7-1/2 mile loop hike. 1400ft elevation gain.
There's no requirement to attempt the peak in order to attend this event -- but we'd love to have some folks join us for the big hike.
Extra terrain star for the possible aggravation of having to plan your drive and walk to the event location within a short time frame.
P.S. Yes, I admit I'm an idiot -- but if you're not, you still might want to claim the cache name "idiot" as a rare qualifier for an old-style challenge GC5PPJ7 up on San Bruno Mountain.
