Another cache in a National Numbered Series of Letterbox Hybrid caches, placed to mark one of a diminishing number of post boxes placed in Queen Victoria's reign and still in use for regular collections by Royal Mail.
A few simple guidelines apply to the series (subject to amendment):
- The post box must carry the Royal Cipher of Queen Victoria (in whatever format)
- The box must have regular collections by Royal Mail
- The box must be in the British Isles (so United Kingdom and adjoining Crown Dependencies).
- Any style or colour of box are valid as long as the above all apply

A short off-set cache based on the traditional Victorian wall box located at the bottom of Links Road as you enter Budleigh Salterton.
The coordinates given will take you to the Post Box itself. The cache is not there, but is hidden only a short walk away. There is plenty of roadside parking up from the post box in Links Road. The main road itself can be very busy - please do not attempt to park there, and be very careful when crossing it to access the final cache.
Interestingly, the posting hole is rather small and will not take modern-day square envelopes!
First you need to visit the post box and find the following values:
Monday-Friday minus Saturday = A
Saturday minus later Budleigh collection = B
CP number under the QR code = C
The cache is hidden nearby at: N50 37 (A+C)AA W003 20.BBC
Please be very careful crossing the road!
If you know of an eligible post box and would like to add to this series, please apply to Team Hippo for a series number, giving the following:
- Location as in place name (and street if applicable)
- Location in Lat Long format (DD MM.MMM)
- Postbox number
Please note that featured post boxes should comply with the guidelines above. Caches should be Letterbox Hybrid type (and therefore contain a LB stamp), whether placed at the published co-ords, or a simple offset multi, or multi-stage multi, or more of a puzzle style format.
