Holland Canal - 94 reasons to hate paddling
Let the Paddling Season Begin!
The water is fairly flat in the canal, and it can be paddled in any direction. Although, these caches were placed, heading downstream. This section of the Canal is best completed during the earlier part of the paddling season, let's say April, May and Early June. Later in the season, it's a Canal Remember, the water becomes stagnant, and the algae bloom can become nasty.
Today, we started paddling on the canal, and the weather looked promising. Unfortunately, we were not aware Summer and Winter were in a fight. At times it was nice and Sunny, at others there was snow, high winds, rain and even HAIL! Depending on when you decide to paddle this section, be prepared for the weather.

Access:
We PUT-IN at N 44 02.334 W 79 35.053 . At this location, the parking is limited. We have twice accessed the canal at this point, and the area is not marked as private property. The pull-off at the side of the road has room for 2 or maybe 3 cars at the most. I would suggest using the alternative access point if you have multiple cars, and multiple boats.
PUT-OUT or alternate PUT-IN at N 44 06.783 W 79 32.791 . This is a very well used access point to the Holland Canal and River System. There is plenty of roadside parking, and lots of places to enter the water. This area is used by fishermen, who park alongside the canal, and fish at various points.
We Hope You Have a Great Day Paddling on the Canal!
