BREAKING NEWS

Prior Pesky-perennial-protocol puzzle prompts potentially pugnacious polemicals, publicizing patrons' persuasiveness per persnickety polysemy

...which of course got me thinking about a puzzle.  And hiding it in Thompson Park.  Seems fitting (for a given value of "fitting").  But how to proof the puzzle against awkward ambiguity?  Therein lies the rub.  My effort is below.  You, solvers, are all the judges.

So here is the puzzle.  It relies on a particular list of numbers.  Like how "all positive even integers" is a list that goes 2, 4, 6, etc.  Or how "all prime numbers" is a list that goes 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, etc.  Of course, those are straightforward.  This list is... a bit more esoteric, I'll admit.

The cache is located at:

For ABCD, insert the (four-digit) 22nd number in the relevant list.
For EF, insert the (two-digit) 3rd number in the relevant list.

How can this puzzle cache be cracked?  I can think of at least three different ways:


1. Find the source

There is a web page on the Internet presenting the relevant list (well, the first 45 numbers in the relevant list at least, which is more than enough for this puzzle's purposes).  I am fairly sure this is the only web page purporting to present the relevant list.  So, find that web page, leveraging the clues on this cache page, and you'll have the puzzle solved.  

"Are those clues in plain sight" you ask?  "Oh extremely in sight.  Onward ready geocachers" I answer.


2. Determine the list

Instead of finding the source, you could determine the list yourself.  There's other clues on the cache page to help with that.  For example, you know the 3rd number is two digits; and you know the 22nd number is four digits.  And you may have a good idea as to what the 22nd number likely starts with.  But more importantly, there are also at least three clues on this page specifically hinting as to the "special nature" of the list - i.e., what makes the list a list.  Perhaps proud Papa Pesky's pack prefers pondering profoundly particular problems positively?  Perfect.  Proceed!

...ah, but the rub is, might there not be some vagueness in the properties of the list?  Well, let's lay out some rules:

- All numbers in the list are positive integers.
- The listed numbers are in increasing order.  
- There are no exactly-one-word numbers in the list.
- Treat hyphens as spaces.
- Remove all instances of the word "and."  So, instead of a "one hundred and forty-six thousand seven hundred and fifty-five" appearing in the list, you would instead use a "one hundred forty six thousand seven hundred fifty five."
- Nor is that number a "one forty-six seven fifty-five" or something similarly shorthanded. You would instead use a "one hundred forty six thousand seven hundred fifty five."
- And no, a "one hundred forty six thousand seven hundred fifty five" does not appear in the list.


3. Brute force it

It won't be the first time someone found one of my puzzle hides without solving the puzzle.  Could work here.  You know a lot of the West.  You might even know what parts of Thompson Park could host a cache.  There's a pretty specific hint given below (at least, pretty specific once you're in the area of GZ).  Might work.  It's not what I'd choose.  But it might work.
