A sequel to the Original GC2BEHA which was destroyed by a fallen tree. This was the location of the 3rd geocache I had ever hidden, back on 07/09/2010.
This geocache is hidden (again) in honor of all the great volunteers that keep Blue Marsh clean, especially Berks Explorers Seeking Tupperware (BEST) and all the awesome CITO events held here over the years!
This geocache is hidden off one of the trails at Blue Marsh Lake (Trail entrance is off N Heidelberg Rd).
Yes, it is another guard rail cache, but definitely is not a C&D. Why you ask? Well, how often do you find a guard rail in the middle of the woods? I kid you not! You can definitely hike to it, or maybe even mountain bike to it. Just no driving to it!
Park near the coordinates for the trailhead on N Heidelberg Road at your own risk…but there is plenty of room there.
You really shouldn’t need to do any kind of bushwhacking if you just follow the trail (approximately .33 miles one way). You will confirm that you are on the right trail if you pass mile marker 18. You will definitely spot the guard rail up on the right hand side of hill, but you don’t need to scale up the wall to get to it. Just continue to follow the path a little further and the shortcut you seek to the top is on the right.
NOTE: This cache has the hunting attribute selected. Hunters wear orange, and when the time is right, so should you. During hunting season, it is best to do this cache on a Sunday. Since this cache is hidden in the woods, you will encounter things like wildlife, poison ivy, bugs, ticks, etc. That is just part of caching in the great outdoors. Cache at your own risk.
