Geocache Description:

This is one of my favorite places to have fires and teach about historic cooking. A very nice place to relax. - Naturalist Kyle

(I am a ODNR Naturalist for this park, you need permision to place your own caches in the Mohican park/forest areas)

Site Info:

In 1861, Constantine and Agnes Cline came to American from Germany with four young children and a fifth one on the way. On October 1, 1863, Constantine Cline purchased the two adjoining parcels of land on which the cabin originally stood, perched on a hillside lying south of the Memorial Shrine.

Constantine Cline sold the cabin and 40 acres to his son, Charles, on December 24, 1895. Charles Cline and wife Clara raised three children, Sidney Albert, John W., and Alma Ethel Cline, in the cabin while operating a small farm that included a spring house, barn, and an orchard of cherry and apple trees.

Clara died in 1941, Charles in 1944 willing the property to his children, who in 1947 sold it to the State of Ohio which later became Mohican-Memorial State Forest.

To protect the cabin from vandalism and neglect it was dismantled in 1979 by the Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) members and reassembled in 1980 at its current location in the Mohican State Park campground, where naturalists open the cabin from time to time for tours.
