I don't know who Otto Spies is, but there is a kinda cool wildlife management area named after him. I tried to find out what Otto did to have a wildlife management area named after him. So far, no luck. ND State Wildlife Management lands are open to public hunting, be hunter-aware. This Cache is hidden ALONG A PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY near the WATER ACCESS of the Otto Spies Wildlife Management Area. The manager told me they sometimes put a canoe in at this access. I haven't tried. The gravel road to the north is good and leads to one of T00's caches. The mile closest to County Highway 5 can be wet. Use caution if it's muddy and come back another day.
Trivia for the day- geocaching is prohibited in state and federal wildlife management areas unless you jump through a ton of hoops. This cache is placed along the public access road (a section line) that abuts the wildlife management area. By law (N.D.C.C. §24-07-03), section lines are defined as being 66 feet wide and are public right-of-ways. They are free to use by the public.
