Geocache Description:

Since it is on a college campus, this temporary travel bug residence is a dormitory called Cougar Hall and is the home of the Mf (Mu Phi) chapter of the  (Mu-Sigma) Travel Bug Honor Society.  The Omega Rho chapter is in Wisconsin Rapids (GC903W5).

This TB dorm was built right here on campus, in a lab dedicated to stainless steel welding.

Stainless welding is different than welding regular steel; there are considerations of the welding type, welding rod type, and temperature.  Stainless also needs to be polished to remove discoloration that may happen in the welding process.  A mixutre of Argon and Carbon Dioxide gases are common to use in the arc welding process, but there are situations where Helium is included as well.

Stainless steel differs from typical (carbon) steel in composition.  Even stainless steel is more than 60% iron, but stainless steel gets its corrosion resistance by having more Chromium (Cr) and Nickel (Ni) than carbon steel, as well as less Carbon (C).  Stainless steel is stronger, harder, and more corrosion resistant than carbon steel....and more expensive.

Fair warning - this area can be swampy even if it didn't rain that recently.  It won't be deep, but you may want boots.

There is a stainless steel travel mug for the First to Find.

The lock combination is 0-22-0.  Please make sure it is locked again when you are done.

Permission has been obtained from the college to allow placement of this geocache.
