The white pipe structure is connected to the large pond across the fence. The purpose is to provide fire departments with a source of water for fire suppression. The department connects it's fire truck to the pipe and drafts water from the pond. The owner of the pond has agreed to the use of the pond water for this purpose. An excellent example of rural cooperation to provide an emergency service.
