EN: just when we thought there was little else to discover in Sintra, we came across a tiny fountain, hidden along the "Caminho da Fonte de São Pedro", which once supplied water to the Gafaria in this area in medieval times.
Although it bears a plaque dating from 1873, this small fountain is part of Sintra's medieval heritage. The source of the water is in a narrow square surrounded by the high walls of the neighboring farms. The silence and seclusion of the place is only disturbed by the sound of the water gushing into the small tank. In the surrounding area, you can see the marks of the pitchers that locals used to fill with water in the past and a small bench that surely witnessed encounters and flirtations, given the seclusion of the place.
Despite the semi-abandoned state of the place, it still captivates us with the magic and romanticism present in this little-known spot.
