Geocache Description:

10 August 2024, 13:00 - 15:00

Please join us from 1:00-3:00 PM as we gather, talk geocaching, adventures, reocnnect with old friends, make some new friends, and explore Fort Mountain State Park, which isn't a place the GGA seems to visit often.

Fort Mountain is itself, shrouded in mystery - "Moon-Eyed People" building an 855 feet rock ediface, possibly from hundreds or thousands of years ago, a very well preserved fire tower, and even a lake with a beach at the other end of the park. Check out more about Fort Mountain directly from the State Park's website located here.

We'll have the usual announcements, milestones, upcoming events, etc.

Now time for the travel bug launch! "Leaving The Fort!"

There have been several requests for the GGA to host another travel bug launch and race. So here is that chance! Bring your travel bugs, ready to set off for an adventure and race! Will the race last a month, a quarter, a year? Whatever the time and distance, this should be fun!

Perhaps there will be prizes for the furthest distance traveled, the least distance traveled, the most travels, or the most photographed? But there will be prizes, of some kind!

AAAAANNNNNDDDDD..........GGGGGOOOOO!!!!!

Should anyone need asisstance creating a travel bug for the race, the GGA will have a limited number of travel bugs on hand to assist with getting started!

If you like trackables, this is the event for you!

Light refreshments will be provided.

There's also been some chatter that Lazer MIGHT lead a hike out to the State Park geocache affter the event, as this one can be a somewhat tricky one to get to.

Please Note: The entrance fee for Fort Mountain is $5 per vehicle, or is included if you have an annual parking pass, or Friends of Georgia State Parks pass.
