After the railroad abandoned the bridge, there were more than a few ideas on how to use the structure, including using the structure to build condos literally over the Hudson River. Eventually, Pleasant Valley attorney and bicycle enthusiast Fred Schaeffer stepped in, leading the various groups with a common goal.
