Un paseo por Peñíscola. A stroll through Peñíscola.

Para poder registrar esta earthcache, deberás responder correctamente a las siguientes preguntas y enviar luego las respuestas a mi correo electrónico o centro de mensajes.

Las coordenadas corresponden a la zona del muro de piedra caliza que tiene varios cristales de calcita. Utiliza la foto spoiler para saber dónde buscar.

1) ¿De qué color son los cristales de calcita encontrados? (blancos, transparentes, amarillos).

2) ¿Cuántos milímetros tienen los cristales de calcita aquí?

- Entre 1 mm y 2 mm
- Entre 2 mm y 5 mm
- Más de 5 mm

3) Foto obligatoria. Adjunta una foto a tu registro, ya sea un selfie o un papel con tu nombre de usuario, GCcode y la fecha de la visita, para demostrar tu paso por el lugar de la earthcache. Sin embargo, ten en cuenta que no se deben poder estimar las respuestas a través de la fotografía.

Calcita

La calcita es un mineral compuesto por carbonato de calcio (CaCO₃) y es uno de los minerales más abundantes en la superficie terrestre. Su color puede variar de blanco a incoloro, pero también puede presentar tonalidades de gris, amarillo, azul, verde, rojo, marrón e incluso negro, dependiendo de las impurezas presentes.

Geológicamente, la calcita es un componente fundamental de muchos tipos de rocas sedimentarias, particularmente la caliza y el mármol. En las coordenadas, la calcita está presente en las calizas que componen el muro. La caliza, formada principalmente por sedimentos marinos y lacustres, se utiliza ampliamente en la construcción civil.

Además, la calcita es uno de los principales indicadores de procesos diagenéticos en rocas sedimentarias, proporcionando pistas valiosas sobre las condiciones ambientales pasadas.
