The Milo Drive-In was located near Milo on Elm
Street as read from a story about the Chic
Theater which was located directly in Milo."
Milo outgrew the little theater and it was no
longer profitable.
The Milo Drive-In was opened on June 10, 1950
with Randolph Scott in "Albuquerque" & Rotu
Calhoun in "Adventure Island". By 1957, the Chic
Theater had closed and the drive-in on Elm
Street continued into late-1975.

When I was a young child, I can remember coming here with my family to see a movie on the big screen. I can't recall the movie(s) we watched, but I do remember the popcorn & soda we got to have while listening through the speakers that hung on the car windows. I'm pretty sure we always ended up falling asleep before the movie was over. I vaguely remember waking up at some point and might have witnessed a bit of the Adults Only 🎥

High winds which accompanied a rain storm caused considerable damage at the Milo Drive-In Theatre. The marquis structure was blown down and a large portion of the screen was torn off.

The Milo Drive-In opened in 1950 and operated until sometime in the 1980s. It was still in operation as late as 1975. In 1955 it was owned by Affliated Theaters Corporation (Lockwood and Gordon) of Boston. In 1961 it was owned by Daytz Enterprises Corporation.
In 1956 it was a new thing for the town of Milo. It parked 450 cars making it not the largest Drive-in in Maine, but in the top ten. It was owned still by Mrs.E. Mills.
