Learn all about the fun-filled outdoor adventure of Geocaching!
Inspired by the Summer Reading Schedule theme of "Adventure Begins at Your Library". Hosted by the Soldotna Public Library. Presentation by local cacher and long-time member of the GeocacheAlaska! Inc. board of directors, Scott Aleckson. Event is cross-posted to the Summer Reading Schedule of events calendar.
All are welcome. If you're new or maybe you've never heard of geocaching before, join us to learn all about this amazing outdoor hobby. And even if you're a well-seasoned geocacher, join us to learn the latest tips and to share your stories with a new generation of upcoming cachers. All ages are welcome to attend.
This event will start with a presenation inside the library conference room, which is the room to the right as you enter the front door. We will have a multi-media presentation covering all the basics of geocaching. Once the classroom portion is concluded, we'll head outside and actually hunt for some temporary geocaches around the library property so participants can learn first-hand how the game is played and some of the type of geocache hides that they may find. We will have some sample GPS devices for use during this part of the class, so you don't need to bring anything to participate.
