The Island has numerous small monuments & plaques commemorating oft forgotten people, places & events that played a role in the history of the Island. Most such commemorative reminders, if noticed at all, are usually driven by without stopping or reading. This series hopes to highlight the Island’s past through a number of quick, 2-stage multi caches that require visiting & reading such plaques.

This bell was affectionately known as “Big Donald” honouring Fire Chief Donald MacKinnon
1875-1879.
Cast in 18XX by William Blake & Co., formerly H.W. Hooper & Co., Boston, Mass.
Cracked and recast in 1877
Cracked and recast in 1884
Moved from the City Market Building in 1888 to the tower in City Hall.
Removed from tower to present location July 1966.

the first election for Mayor and councilors in the city of Charlottetown.
