The nineteenth event of a CITO series around Canberra. This CITO focuses on footpaths and public land near CISAC in Belconnen, particularly along the footpath at the posted coordinates. Passing drivers and pedestrians constantly dump rubbish here, hence why it is worth of a CITO. Being public land, members of the public (such as ourselves) can freely dispose of litter from this area without needing permission from the land owners (the local government). All rubbish collected will be transported away from the site by the event host (or other CITO attendees, should they be willing), and disposed off in large garbage bins at my home address (these bins are large enough to accommodate bulky items). Any bulky items that cannot be moved from the site will be reported to the ACT government using "Fix my street" and government employees will be sent to transport these items to the tip.
As someone who regularly walks, rides and jogs through this area, it is clear that this area can do with a community clean up event (as can the Greater Belconnen region more generally, so stay tuned for more CITO events). There is rubbish that has been dumped by nearby households and passing drivers. Any items of rubbish that are too large to go into a garbage bag will be transported away from the CITO site and disposed of in skip bins at my home address.
Garbage bags and nitrile gloves will be supplied should you wish to use them. Rubbish grabber/pick up tools are recommended if you have them. Sturdy shoes and sensible clothing are also recommended.
If you attended any of the previous CITO events in this series, then you may have a good idea of what to look for at the meeting point. If not, then look for the banana, and look up!
For a bit of fun, and if you wish to compete for FTF, recall the famous Bananas in Pyjamas. Now, surely bananas are not the only non-person object that would look good in pyjamas! So, bring along something in pyjamas that would not normally wear them (I will accept photoshop submissions in your "Will Attend" log) and let's see if we can continue the trend! Best pyjama-donning object will see its owner win FTF!
