Nekomata Bridge 🐱 猫又橋 Multi-Cache

The listed coordinates indicate the site of the Nekomata Bridge. The cache is not hidden at the listed coordinates.

The Geocaching HQ has designated "Animals" as the cache hiding theme for June 2024. The Nekomata Bridge once spanned the old Senkawa River. It was called Nekomata (根子股) Bridge because the bridge was built with the crotch (股/mata) of a tree root (根っ子/nekko). Also, there is a theory that the bridge came to be called Nekomata (猫又/two-tailed monster cat) Bridge because of a legend that a monster called Neko-danuki appeared in this area. The Nekomata Bridge was replaced by a concrete structure in 1910s, but the Senkawa River was culverted in 1934 and the bridge was removed. The two parent pillar sleeve stones are preserved at the site of the Nekomata Bridge near the Sengoku 3-chome intersection.

The cache is a two-step multi-cache. Please find the year (a) and month (b) of installation of the bridge marked on the sleeve stone at the listed coordinates.

ジオキャッシング本部が設定した2024年6月のキャッシュ設置テーマは「Animals」です。猫又橋は、かつて旧千川にかかっていた橋です。木の根っ子の股で橋をかけたので、根子股橋と呼ばれました。また、このあたりに猫貍という妖怪が出るという伝説から、猫貍橋（猫又橋）と呼ばれるようになったとの説もあります。猫又橋は、大正時代にコンクリート造になりましたが、昭和9年（1934年）に千川が暗渠になり、橋は撤去されました。千石三丁目交差点の近くの猫又橋の跡に親柱の袖石2基が保存されています。

このキャッシュは2段マルチキャッシュです。公開座標にある袖石に記された橋の設置年月を確認してください（大正a年b月）。
