Join the Central CT Cachers for this second annual event at Andover Lake.
The date and coords will change in the event of rain so please check the logs and page for updates.
A "will attend" will be GREATLY appreciated as this is at a private residence. Please note, there will be muggles attending as well.
The exact address is 369 Lake rd Andover CT. You will need to park along Lake rd. Please do not park on neighbors lawns. It is ok to park on the street.
Access to the lake is across the street from the residence. You are welcome to swim, kayak, float, paddleboard or bring your fishing pole. NO gas, battery or electric engines are allowed on the lake and there is no public boat ramp- you MUST access the water at the coords. Do NOT go on any neighbors property. Please be respectful of neighbors and others using the lake. Bring your own towel, sunscreen. There will be extra kayaks, a canoe and paddleboards to borrow. Lake activities are at your own risk. There is NO DIVING off the dock as the water is shallow. Supervise your kids.
Food and drink: Bring a potluck food to share if you would like. If you know what you're bringing and can mention it in your log, that would be appreciated. A grill will be available. Plates, utensils, napkins, cups provided. Bring your own beverage of choice and small cooler if you like. If you would rather bring firewood than food, that would be appreciated too.
There are no caches allowed around or in the lake, as it is all private property with no public access. The Hop River Trail can be accessed one mile from the event, if you are interested.
There will be a band playing music from 5 to 9 pm, with breaks (70's to today, pop, country). This will be outside in the driveway.
There will be a campfire, to start around dusk.
The driveway is wheelchair accessible. The lakefront is more challenging. Please contact the host if you need disabled assistance.
Prefer no pets as there is an older dog in residence, but contact host to discuss.
This is a monthly gathering, usually on the second Tuesday of every month (dates may vary based on host's discretion). Mark your calendars now! Anyone is welcome to attend...you don't have to reside in CT, and you certainly don't have to be an experienced cacher. New folks are most welcome! If you are simply curious and want to learn more about geocaching, this is the place to come. Let us know if this is your first event as we'd like to get acquainted. This event features new or rotating hosts every month along with changing locations. Are you interested in hosting a CCCs' Nite Out event? As host, you select a location; request a reservation, get the coordinates; copy and paste the information to the event page, add your own details, and resubmit. The location should be kid friendly, have no admission fee and be within the Central Connecticut/Greater Hartford area.
