This cache replaces one which was archived in 2020. At that time there were 4 chimneys across the lake.
So...Some history.....
In its heyday London Brick Company had 167 chimneys in Marston Vale of which the Stewartby chimneys were the last four survivors.The LBC was founded in 1897 but closed in 2008 as they were unable to meet the clean air standards. The final 4 chinmeys had at one time served the largest brick kilns in the world and were listed. However they were found to be structurally unsound and were demolished at 11:15am on 26th September 2021.
A large crowd gathered at the site of this cache to watch the demolition.
Hence there is now No Smoking and the view is very different but still lovely.
