Welcome to the Turtle Mountains! This area were created by glaciers that melted roughly 3,000 years ago. As those glaciers melted, it created a dead ice morraine. There is roughly 500 feet of glacial till that was left behind, creating the Turtle Mountain region. This is also what created all of the lakes and wetlands in the area that we use for recreation and that plants and animals utilize as habitat.
