Geocache Description:

This is the 58th in the Rest 'n Peace Cemetery Series - Centre County. Rock Hill Cemetery, also known as Linden Hall, is an old burial ground that was active from 1836 to 1955, just under 120 years. Interestingly, within 40 years of the founding and original church construction the congregation had a division of belief and the congregation split. The ensuing schism saw a completely separate church built at the site, as seen on the 1874 Pomeroy atlas and the 1908 Topographic map of the area. The original church is in red, the new one on blue.

The original church stood where the floral garden now resides (between the cemetery and Brush Valley Road) while the 'new' church is the one that exists still today. Of particular note at the gravesite are the massive arborvitae growing on the grounds and their stippled, wavy bark, and the presence of his and hers outhouses next to the church proper. A brass plaque also exists at the site, showing the layout of this very well maintained cemetery. As with any and all cemetery caches, please be respectful when hunting this cache.
