The 60th in the Rest 'n Peace Cemetery Series - Centre County brings you to the Spring Mills Cemetery in Gregg township. This is a still active burial ground that has been seeing interments since 1831 making it nearly 200 years in active service. As a non-church affiliated site this is a true cemetery, as the term graveyard technically designates an associated house of worship. Indeed, on the old 1874 Pomeroy Atlas one can see that this site was situated by and served more than one church (and one school apparently).

The site today is nestled between modest single family homes but still maintains a calm serenity on the NW tip of Spring Mills. Things to note are the graves of several Civil War veterans, including one Mister Ludwig Spiro who would have been just barely into his teenage years when he served!

To find the cache, please don't make the same mistake I did and head for the obvious big beautiful tree. You'll be in for quite the shock if you get near the fence! Instead, examine the man-made structure that isn't a burial location, and as with all cemetery caches, please be respectful of those buried here when making the find.
